It can sometimes happen with blonde colours where a few weeks after your appointment, they can start to dull.
There's a huge variety of reasons why your blonde may not look its best a few weeks after a colour, but good news, they're all easy to fix!
Is it due to environmental factors?
Mineral buildup is super common! It's when hard water leaves tiny mineral deposits in your hair, and on light hair, it can result in hair that looks flat, darkened, or slightly dirty even when it's clean.
If you suspect this may be what's happening to your hair, some signs to look out for are your hair feeling rough or coated and your hair getting dull faster than usual after washing.
This can happen more if you've recently moved or changed water source. You can experiment with getting water filter heads for your shower, which should make a huge difference.
Do you need to double cleanse?
I'm a huge fan of a double cleanse!
Try using a clarifying or detoxing shampoo once a week. You can find my favourites by clicking here.
If you try this and the difference is dramatic, it could be that product build-up was the main issue.
Struggling with product overload?
Maybe you're unintentionally using too much product on your hair. Excessive protein or moisture can create a coating on blonde hair, dulling its brightness.
This can also happen if you use too many toning shampoos, so if they are products you use a lot, consider switching them out for an alternative to see if it makes a difference.
Considering a touch of softness and colour?
Consider adding some lowlights to your blonde hair. This can enhance its dimension, shine, and overall reflectiveness.
Is chlorine affecting your hair?
It may seem early to be thinking about this - at time of writing, it's mid March! But if you're planning on going on holiday, it's essential to make sure you're protecting your hair from chlorine build-up.
So make sure to rinse your hair straight after swimming and use a special swimmers shampoo if needed. It'll make a huge difference.
How did you find these tips? What one will you try first? If there's a topic you'd like me to cover on the blog, leave a comment and let me know!
